Blending curves in grasshopper (wrong direction)

Hello, I am trying to blend all the open curves together (in the gaps) to achieve a single planar curve. However, I find that the blend curve is always only produced on one side and it gets problems when I try to create the blend on the other side (even when trying to flip curve etc). May I find out what I am doing wrong?

I’m avoiding attaching the definition as the file is very big (can’t really internalize data)

Hi i’m trying to understand Loop plug in by Antonio Turriello, while i’m contructing the definition for the loop i’ve an error that says: “1. Solution exception: Riferimento a un oggetto non impostato su un’istanza di oggetto.”

What kind of problem is this and how i can solve it?

Here’s the .gh file
LoopComponentGH.gh (26.3 KB)

I’ve try to search some tutorials or lessons for this plug in but i found only examples, but i want to understand it deeply.

P.S. my timer component seem doesn’t work.
I think that’s because there’s an error in my definition.

Thank you!

I guess there is no easy way to use a modified google font, right? If not, I think I will try to store the curves of the glyphs in the definition and use them from there. Any better ideas?

Hello! I don’t know grasshopper very well but I have a tower made of two separate towers and the facade is causing me troubles. I want to remove the intersecting portion of the voronoi facade that is going through the floor plates but keep the rest the same.

I have attached a gh file with internalized data for reference. Please help!

Karamba Analyze issue

@akiraguirre wrote:

Hi everyone,
I’m a structural engineer and I am just starting to play around with Grasshopper and Karamba.

I am facing an issue with the Analyze component. I’m getting the following error message:

“1. There are 18 rigid body modes in the system. This means some parts can move freely without causing deformation.
Try to use the ‘Eigen Modes’-component and activate the display of local coordinate axes: The first eigen-mode will be the rigid body motion.
If this does not help, check whether you have a pinned support directly attached to a hinge. A hinge introduces an extra node which may cause the problem.
When analyzing a flat shell structure one has to lock the rotation perpendicular to the plate in at least one node.”

I have looked for a solution online but although finding many threads about this topic, none of the solutions have worked. I would really appreciate it if someone could have a look at the attached file and give me a hand.

Many thanks,

Akira

C-value for Sightline analysis (bowlbuilder)

Hi all,

I am currently working on my master thesis on football stadiums. I am trying to calculate the C-value from a data tree of points. I am trying to utilize a component of “Bowlbuilder” (https://www.food4rhino.com/app/bowlbuilder#comment-31235) which needs as inputs a touchline (polyline curve) and a list of points (tree or flatten list). It seems to work correctly, except for the corner area. Here, the value calculated for few points is not correct (see image).

I think it must be a problem of the input list, since the number of seats per row change in the corner areas (So, the tree branches have a different length) I was thinking of trimming the list to maintain a constant number of points in every list, but it seems tricky with a complex tree such as this one. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello,

I’m pretty new to grasshopper. May I know how to extrude a boundary surface? I tried using Extrude but it does not seem to work.

I had intended for this grasshopper file to work like a camera aperture closing and opening for paper packaging applications.

  • How to extrude boundary surface?
  • Can I make each of the surface tangent/perpendicular to the curve of the arc such that the surfaces will not cut into one another?

(Apologies, I tried to internalise data but can’t seem to do it.)

I’d greatly appreciate any help and guidance on this topic. I have been referencing from this two links to build:

Mesh from surface

@valeriacroce93 wrote:

Hi,
I have this arched surface and I want to produce, via Grasshopper, a mesh. The subdivision of the mesh should follow the one shown in the second figure.
Even though this is quite trivial to do in Rhino with the command “Mesh from surface/Polysurface”, I did not found a similar command via Grasshopper. I would like to choose a number of subdivision segments along the curves and, based on this, reconstruct the mesh.
Can anyone please tell me how to solve this?

Optimize Cross Section based on displacement for all load cases superimposed

@r.crielaard wrote:

Hi all,

First time Karamba user here. Browsed the forum, but couldn’t find an answer to this problem. I’m trying to use the OptiCroSec component in order to size for deflection based on 3 load cases.

The load cases seem to be working. For example: if I select ‘all load cases’ in ModelView, the BeamView component shows superimposed section forces.

However, this does not seem the case for the displacement in the OptiCroSec component. I have set a limit deflection. Deflections of the separate load cases comply with this limit, but if I add those values, the limit is exceeded. The MaxDisp input in the OptiCroSec states “maximum admissible displacement [cm] for all load cases”. But this seems to be all load cases separately, not combined like in the ModelView component.

Am I missing something here? How can I superimpose in the OptiCroSec component?

Thank you in advance.

Im a bit lost in this one (i searched for other posts on this but no cigar). I have my knife model in GH, it’s a lofted hexagon tappered and i added a fillet but looking closely i noticed that my handle has holes and i dont want to guess how the stl to cnc will translate if there’s a hole. The hole is the fillet, i tried union/intersection, capex, etc… cant make it work!

How can you cap the holes in this example?
